Turning a house into a home is a process
and I’m not sure a house ever really feels finished. Though we moved in over two years ago, much of our farmhouse is still a work in progress, and I frequently hop from project to project, and room to room. We need a lamp here! This wall feels empty. When are we going to replace that old rug? Life happens, things take time, and of course, there’s the expense of it all. But I also feel strongly that what gives a home character is the very act of furnishing it over time, of collecting special things here and there, rather than ordering everything in one fell one swoop from a handful of websites.
I’ve been hesitant to share too many photos and videos of the interior of our house, feeling that they needed to be picture perfect before their big debut. But one of the reasons I’m excited to launch LideyLetter is that I’ve realized that it’s much more fun to share it all - the finished products, the works in progress, and the inspiration along the way.
I’m not a professional decorator, nor do I work with one, but I love making rooms beautiful, and making them feel like home. I’m learning and experimenting as I go, and I’m excited to share that process with you here.
The nursery
It’s room that will always be evolving, as our daughter Holly grows, and I wanted to design a space that would be flexible enough to grow with her. The nursery came together in the weeks before Holly’s arrival early this winter. Turns out, an impending due date can really get a pregnant woman moving.
Here’s a closer look, with a list of sources at the bottom of the post. I hope you enjoy it!
