Lidey, maybe you can get Bruster’s recipe for hot fudge sauce. I ate that often when I lived in Pittsburgh. BTW, I was a big fan of Robert and Michael’s restaurants.😀
I make an ice cream cake for this brother and sister’s birthdays every year (their birthdays are a week apart). Their favorite ice cream is Peppermint Stick! But the topping is home made hot fudge sauce. The recipe is simple (and delicious!):
-3 oz semi-sweet chocolate bits
-1 cup powdered (confectioner’s)
sugar
-2T. butter
-1 small can evaporated milk
Mix & boil until thick, Cool & top on ice cream cake.
I would love to make your peppermint ice cream for this, but it uses 2x 1/2 gallons of ice cream!
I make it in the large size springform pan-makes for a great presentation.
The base is an Oreo cookie crust (25-28 crushed Oreos. Mix with 1/2 stick of melted butter. Press into the springform pan and freeze. Let the ice cream soften, so it’s spreadable & refreeze. I do it overnight and the next morning make the hot fudge topping (refreeze again). Great for a crowd of about 20 people. The kids & their friends love it. Note: you can use any ice cream of your choice.
Do you have a good hot fudge sauce recipe you can share in comments?
I actually don’t have a hot fudge recipe!! Adding it to my list of things to work on!! :))

Try McConnell’s peppermint stick. So good!
I look for it!!!
Mum used to serve this but instead of a brownie as the base, she had meringues. Yum!
That sounds incredible!!!
